Performance Health is seeking a Senior New Development Engineer to join our team in Akron, OH. This position is responsible for new product development and technical support for supported team. These responsibilities include participation in/leadership of project teams pertaining to new product and process development, planning and implementation; manufacturing efficiency; materials evaluation/qualification.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duties satisfactorily. Essential Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesParticipate in business meetings (representing the technical perspective) to evaluate and prioritize project opportunitiesComplete the technical aspects of Product Engineering projects to includeDevelops product according to customer requirementsAssists in the development of processes necessary to produce the productReviews product design and implementation for compliance with company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications (including Design Control)Manufacturing support/projects including but not limited toProcess ValidationLEAN initiativesRoot Cause InvestigationsQualification of new raw materialsIdentification and resolution of problems related to current manufacturing processes and materials for all manufacturing locationsWriting/maintaining/reviewing controlled documents relating to: processing specifications, purchased material specifications, BOP’s, SOP’s, Formula Cards, DMR’s, and design control documentation for Akron and MalaysiaTraining of employees on new or modified equipment, processes, procedures and materialsTechnical support for the following additional business functionsMarketing: technical advice for new product applicationsCustomer Service: provides technical advice for resolving product use recommendations and customer complaintsQA: provides recommendation on product performance issues, develops test criteria for new product offeringsMonitoring emerging materials, processes and technologiesCommunicated to both internal resources and external customersPerforms other duties as assigned Job Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Chemistry (specialization in polymers a plus)5+ years of Product Engineering experience with a focus on polymers, synthetic or natural rubber, or TPEAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
