Performance Health is headquartered in the greater Chicago, Illinois area, with significant operations both in the US and internationally.Performance Health is seeking a Quality Engineer Co-Op to join our Manufacturing team in Akron, OH. The Engineering Co-Op will work on projects related to the quality and process design improvements of our products. The duration of this Co-Op is working part time 15-25 hours per week during spring semester and working full time during the summer.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duties satisfactorily. Essential Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesUse appropriate quality tools as part of multifunctional team (such as 6 Sigma methodologies, DOE, FMEA, and Gage R&R analyses) to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities. Establish product test requirementsDevelop specifications, which document the required appearance and characteristics of materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products. Determine inspection points, procedures to be followed, characteristics to be measured, equipment and forms to be used, and records to be kept. Provide training and coaching of Inspection personnelAssist in analysis of complaints and non-conformances to determine root cause and monitor corrective actions for effectiveness. Participate in the design process and new product launches, including Operations training, drawing interpretation and Control Plan development to ensure that expectations for quality, performance, regulatory compliance, and delivery are met.Participate in risk analysis and post market surveillance activitiesParticipate with Supply Chain to select suppliers. Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective and preventive actions.
